Brief Description of Duties: Provide vision and leadership for the Department of English and Foreign Languages; oversee the recruitment, development, and evaluation of faculty; establish the department's priorities in line with the university's strategic plan; manage the department's budget; assess and evaluate curricula and develop new undergraduate and graduate academic programs; lead accreditation initiatives and effectively advocate for the department. Teach 6 hours each semester in area of specialty; promote and conduct publishable scholarly research and/or engage in grant writing.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): The doctorate degree in English or other appropriate discipline from a regionally accredited institution; excellent leadership and administrative skills; a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship sufficient to merit a tenure-track appointment at the rank of associate or full professor; a demonstrated commitment to faculty and student development; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Prior successful administrative experience in higher education; prior teaching and administrative experience in a culturally diverse liberal arts undergraduate or graduate institution; a distinguished record of scholarly research, publication and/or grantsmanship.
