HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE Under the functional guidance of a Lead Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer will perform engineering activities for New Product Development projects. Responsible for engineering robust and innovative new bathroom products that meet our customer needs such as function, aesthetic and cost. Responsible for performing moderately broad engineering assignments starting with concept generation and going all the way though verification testing and manufacturing implementation. Effectively creates, plans, organizes and leads engineering subtasks to meet objectives on multiple projects. Generate, define, select, specify, optimize and implement new innovative concepts for new or modified faucet products. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program – OR - a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from an ABET accredited program – OR - a Bachelors Degree in a related program and successful completion of the EIT exam from any state in the US. Demonstrate efficient working knowledge of CAD (ProE) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) required. Working knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) preferred. A minimum of 2 years of Engineering work experience required. SKILL PREFERENCES – HOW YOU CAN STAND OUT Makes appropriate decisions using support tools, accurate data and critical thinking; justify risk under critical review. Creates multiple approaches to complex problems and then applies Engineering techniques such as Design for Six Sigma, FEA and others to optimize a solution. Develop and optimize robust component and product specifications (usually detailed on Engineering drawings) to meet customer, Kohler and regulatory requirements. Establishes priorities and action plans for multiple projects. Ability to provide development cost and timeline needs to project manager. Monitors and takes appropriate corrective action to achieve project objectives. Using FMEA and other Engineering tools, translate customer, regulatory and reliability requirements into a qualification (verification) test plan, and measure the performance of the design (tooling / process) to the requirements. Generate and/or implement original, unique and useful technical solutions to solve problems, meet current and anticipated future customer needs. Regularly provide feedback, ideas and solutions for decreasing time to market and improving the New Product Development process. Mentor less experienced Engineers and co-op students as needed.
