BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
Foster verbal interaction and attachment relationships between caregivers and their young children to promote positive, appropriate social and cognitive development
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate how to use the books and toys to cultivate language and emergent literacy skills to promote school readiness.
Consistently visit each of his/her families assigned for two years and provide families with books and toys that will stimulate language development and parent-child interaction.
Will keep a summary of each home visit that reflects the ongoing progress of each home visit and keep all program records and paperwork up-to-date and organized.
Will submit all required program records and paperwork to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Assist families with additional needs by providing supervisor approved referrals to community resources.
Will video tape each of their assigned families at least two times per year or as many times as deemed necessary by supervisor and/or program director.
Assist and coordinate along with co-workers the family activities throughout the year.
Assist with Baby & Me groups as needed during the year and summer months.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Degree: High school diploma or equivalent and some experience with families and children (ages 0-5)
Years of Experience: none required
Other skills and requirements: Spanish speak and read fluently; English speak and write fluently. Strong interest in working with children and their caregivers.
