Director, Government Affairs
reports to the Manager, Federal Affairs - Upstream, L48 & Alaska. With the Manager and other government affairs colleagues, this role works to influence industry and other external organizations to enhance company outcomes from the passage of legislation and/or the promulgation of federal rulemakings.
This position is targeted to provide a developmental role for an internal technical employee to gain a broad understanding of the federal legislative/regulatory environment to later apply within the business.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Monitoring and tracking federal legislative and regulatory developments in assigned issue areas, including keeping abreast of externalities that may impact outcomes for the company
Developing working relationships with key external influencers and staff in assigned areas of issue coverage within the Congressional and Executive Branches of the federal government
Participating, as directed, in internal company issue working groups where federal government perspectives are essential
Updating and communicating, as needed, issue developments to key internal company stakeholders
Legally authorized to work in the United States
3+ years of Capitol Hill or Executive Branch experience
3+ years experience with federal/legislative regulatory responsibilities focused in the oil & gas industry
Bachelor's degree in public policy disciplines, science, engineering or other technical field
Demonstrated experience as an effective communicator with excellent analytical, writing and interpersonal skills
Highly motivated, ethical and professional
