Collects blood from patients utilizing proper patient identification procedures to provide quality laboratory specimens .
Ensures patient safety, comfort, well-being and satisfaction.
Follows established departmental protocols for accurate collection and labeling.
Prioritizes workload and collections for efficiency and to meet turnaround time guidelines.
Requires the performance of a variety of non-technical and clerical duties in the laboratory including monitoring and scheduling collection of samples, pickup of collected samples and supply inventory and stocking.

Performs repetitive tasks/motions, distinguishes colors, hears alarms/telephone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice.
Moderate supervision needed.
Completion of certified phlebotomy course or comparable work experience is required. Phlebotomy certification by one of the following organization: American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP), National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required.
A minimum of one (1) year hospital experience preferred.
Phlebotomy, verbal, interpersonal, customer relations, and grammar/spelling skills are required. Basic computer skills are required. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions required.
