Novell is seeking a dynamic high-tech product marketing professional with a solid background in technology marketing to help drive success in Novell's File and Networking portfolio. The right candidate will be responsible for product marketing for Novell Open Enterprise Server and related products. Open Enterprise Server is the modern incarnation of NetWare and enables efficient management of file & print networks on SUSE Linux. Additional responsibilities include other projects as assigned.
The right candidate will work closely with a cross-functional, highly motivated team, including product managers, sales leaders, other product marketing managers, and local and international representatives from field and other marketing disciplines.
This is an individual contributor role with responsibilities that include defining the market opportunity, product value and customer targets; developing product messaging, marketing strategy and programs; creating collateral, sales tools, competitive information, and Web content; participating at events; delivering internal/public/press/analyst presentations; coordinating with global sales and marketing teams, etc.
Position requires periodic travel.
Work seamlessly with a cohesive marketing team that works both together and independently to drive the strategy and execution for the company's File and Networking marketing efforts. Take ownership for product market success and drive idea creation and follow-through to enable sales teams to achieve revenue goals.
Thoroughly understand current customer needs/requirements for relevant product segments. Understand how Novell's offerings can meet customer needs, stand out from the competition and serve customers' broader business goals.
Thrive in a team environment yet drive and deliver on individual responsibilities.
Build market requirements document and market plan with an understanding of market trends, competitors, market segments, and marketing strategies and tactics, with the goal of enabling sales teams, building awareness and generating demand for products to accomplish business goals.
Develop awareness, enablement and lead generation tools including Web text, brochures, white papers, presentations, etc. and work with worldwide field operations team to enable the partner, sales, and services organizations to compete effectively and succeed in the market.
Support functions such as field marketing, analyst relations, public relations, and event marketing with content and participation in their plans and activities.
