Morehead State University, recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, is accepting applications for a standing position as Director for the Campus Recreation and Wellness. The University is in the final stages of construction of a 99,000 sf facility to open in May 2011.

Responsibilities: The Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness is responsible for sound management of the campus recreation and wellness center, staff, and program planning and implementation. This includes, but is not limited to supervision and coordination of budgets and financial management; professional, student, and custodial staff scheduling; supervision, evaluation, and training of staff; and program development.

Qualifications: Master's degree in recreation management, sports management /administration, exercise science, health administration, or related field combined with appropriate experience. Five years' progressive full-time experience in a comprehensive recreation environment with a minimum of three years' successful experience in management of professional staff. Demonstrated successful experience in management of budgets. Must have knowledge in current theories and practices in most or all of the fields of recreation, intramurals, fitness/wellness, aquatics, accessible and outdoor recreation, and facilities management. Must exhibit superior interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills. Must be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to motivate staff. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, excellence, and diversity. Must have knowledge and experience utilizing computer applications and databases.

Desired Qualifications: Terminal degree. Experience in a university setting. Experience in facility planning and program development. NIRSA Certified Recreation Sports Specialist or NIRSA National School of Recreational Sports Management Level 1 and/or 2. Certified as American Heart or American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor. American College of Sports Medicine certification.
