ATC – School

Under the direction of a licensed physician, provides athletic training services in

accordance with school contracts. Provides services, as requested, at school athletic

events and practices.

• Establishes and maintains medical files for each student involved in interscholastic

athletics including but not limited to injury, treatment, rehabilitation and

communication. Reports all pertinent findings to the team physician.

• Determines the successfulness of rehabilitation programs and adapts as necessary.

• Administers proper athletic training techniques (i.e. wrapping and taping) prior to

games and practices to decrease risk of injury as well as determine when an injured

athlete has been rehabilitated to the extent that such techniques are no longer


• Assists the school physician and coach in determining when an injured athlete can

safely return to participation and competition.

• Assists coaching staff in establishing conditioning exercises and programs to

promote, perform and reduce the likeliness of injury.

• Develops and maintains school supply budgets (first aid only).

• Develops and delivers educational opportunities to contract.

• Develops and maintains tracking reports for each contract arena serviced.

• Supervises, equips, and maintains an athletic training room at its optimal usefulness.

• Equips, maintains, and provides first aid kits and safety equipment at athletic events

or appropriate school functions.

• Provides coverage for weekend athletic practices and events, as requested.

Athletic Trainer - School

• Adheres to all safety regulations and compliance with governmental agencies’

standards. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration

(OSHA) requirements and Company policy.

• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent

combination of education and experience.

• Position requires a minimum of two (2) years job-related experience or equivalent

combination of education and work experience.

• Prior clinical experience a must.

• Effective communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized verbal and

written communication.

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships with

physicians, therapists and patients.

• Ability to work effectively as a team member.

• Effective organizational, time management and planning skills.

• Excellent problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to exceptional professionalism, confidentiality and


• National Athletic Trainers Association Certification required.

• State licensure required.

• Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

• First-Aid Certification preferred.
