Hours
8-hour shift; 11:00 am – 7:30 pm, every Saturday and Sunday
Qualifications
Internal candidates only (current Sharp HealthCare employees)
Requires Current CA Guard
High School Diploma or equivalent required
College courses in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Psychology preferred
Requires l aw enforcement experience or prior security experience in health care setting
Requires basic knowledge of penal codes
Requires effective interpersonal and customer relations skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish)preferred
Summary
The primary role of the Security Officer will be to provide a safe and secure environment for patients/families to receive care and for our staff to provide care in. This will include welcoming and directing visitors, patrolling the grounds, enforcing the facility guidelines and managing behaviors before they escalate. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and function in a team environment to enhance patient care.
Sharp HospiceCare is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and compassionate support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses, along with their families and friends. Services range from relief of physical discomfort to emotional and spiritual support. Sharp HospiceCare also provides “pre-hospice” home based palliative care consultation for patients with advanced illness such as heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and dementia.
Sharp HospiceCare provides in-home services and also provides the region’s first freestanding hospice homes, LakeView Home in La Mesa and ParkView Home in Del Cerro, which offer end-of-life patients an alternative to nursing-home placement. The homes — staffed 24 hours a day by licensed nurses — offer a comfortable and supportive environment for up to four patients at one time in each home.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift/carry 25-40 pounds; requires frequent standing and walking; ability to speak, hear and communicate clearly.
