Working as part of the Dedicated Team organization within Dell SecureWorks, the Network Security Senior Advisor for MAC Engineering is responsible for demonstrating expertise in analyzing client networks, determining flows and constructing comprehensive Moves/Adds/Change (MAC) requests based off of client requirements. This individual will field access requests of all levels of complexity from a global enterprise client, work with the requestor on obtaining all requirements, engineer a solution on supported firewalls, document a comprehensive change request for our Security Operations Center to implement, and ensuring any follow-up access concerns are addressed. They will be engaged in engineering solutions for project related work as needed and will represent proposed engineered solutions on CABs. This individual must be able to analyze and update network diagrams, and train junior engineers on these environments. It is a requirement to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail as well as an expansive knowledge of analytical and troubleshooting skills. The Network Security Senior Advisor will be engaged during audits or internal reviews to investigate previously engineered solutions as well as evaluate them for compliance to both pre-defined and industry standards. All work results will be tracked in the Dell SecureWorks ticket-based CRM system built on Remedy. In addition to providing support to the client, the individual will support internal colleagues through the creation of support documentation as well as providing training on various technologies, topologies, and best practices. The Network Security Senior Advisor may also assist with change preparation and implementation if needed. It is a requirement to be able to quickly and efficiently process change requirements while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Provide advanced firewall, WAF and IDS support for a global enterprise customer, developing complex solutions to real-world business problems and customer engagements through in-depth analysis, coordination, and negotiation considering Dell-wide implications of such decisions
  • Provides and integrates deep subject matter expertise in currently supported firewall (Checkpoint, Juniper Netscreen, and Juniper SRX) and IPS/WAF (TippingPoint, Imperva, and Citrix NetScaler) technologies as well as quickly learn any new security technology introduced into the network, becoming the team expert on such technologies
  • Apply standards from both Dell SecureWorks’ and the client, to designing firewall rules and configurations
  • Interface with users from a global enterprise client and evaluate access requests
  • Engineer Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests, often without the assistance of network diagrams
  • Take ownership of abstract and complex issues and work to resolution
  • Develops innovative solutions to problems without precedent
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Provide support to the customer by being an extension of Dell SecureWorks’ 24x7x365 Security Operations Center environment
  • Provide technical authority and documentation of technical and operational procedures, and guidance to peers and the SOC. Documents engineering standards
  • Ability to work occasionally outside of pre-defined shift based on client demand and support requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and client care skills by documenting all activities within our client delivery systems and communicating with client representatives in a timely manner
  • Ensure that we are implementing best practice security policies that address the customer's business need while protecting their vital corporate assets
  • Manage, participate in, or directly work on any additional projects, assignments, or initiatives assigned by management
  • Work closely with a project management team on planned activities
  • Provide level-of-effort assessments on critical tasks
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 8-10 years of functional experience
  • Strong background in network security management, internet firewalls, routing technologies and intrusion detection systems. Expert knowledge of Unix operating systems
  • Knowledge of trouble ticketing and CRM
  • Demonstrated expertise of networking knowledge including a thorough understanding of the OSI model
  • Demonstrated expertise with, and vendor security certifications, including CISSP, CCSA, CCSE, CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, and JNCIA
  • Ability to interact with members of cross-functional team, reach consensus, and show results
  • Experience in writing technical documentation
  • Ability to think strategically and define clear execution plans
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to communicate technical details in a clear, understandable manner
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
