USIS is seeking personnel to conduct background investigations in support of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) contract.

What does an Investigator do?

Investigators utilize their skills and experiences to conduct thorough investigations to determine the suitability, character, and the integrity of applicants applying for national security clearances. Thorough and accurate investigations will enable our clients to mitigate risk, make more confident hiring decisions, and secure the safety of both their organizations and our nation. Field investigators will be in a position of trust, a role that requires integrity, confidentiality, commitment, and pride in your country’s security.

Each day, field investigators are faced with different challenges and opportunities. On any given day you will find yourself traveling from appointment to appointment conducting a wide range of investigative activities to include:

  • Conducting face-to-face interviews with subject, neighbors, coworkers, friends and associates.
  • Perform record searches at law enforcement agencies, courthouses and mental health, financial and educational institutions relative to the subject of investigation.
  • Compiling information gathered from investigations
  • Writing clear, concise reports that will be provided to the govenment.
Successful Investigators must have the ability to:
Effectively manage case load

Interact professionally with a wide variety of people in various settings

Superior organizational and time management skills

Advanced skills in both oral and written communication

Excellent computer and typing skills for writing narrative reports of investigation

USIS Field Investigator Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 36 months’ comparable work/military experience
  • Must possess US Citizenship
