Positions Available: Three (3)

There are three positions currently open in the Coating Operation at Carestream Health Oregon. The positions filled will be dependent on an individual’s skill and experience level.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
1. Safely operate a coating machine line which includes unwind, coating station, drying oven and winder sections.
2. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
3. Follow all work instruction including standard and change documentation.
4. Trouble shoot machine and operator interface problems.
5. Change coating equipment as required for varying products and coating methods.
6. Complete end product testing per standards.
7. Investigate defects and assist in determining root cause.
8. Know and follow proper use of PPE.
9. Understand information contained in the chemical MSDS and how to locate.
10. Escalate out of specification or reject data immediately.
11. Complete all required training.
12. Manage hazardous waste and satellite accumulation locations. Complete assigned training to comply with state and federal regulations.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:
1. Effective communication skills within crew and other departments.
2. Ability to read and follow written instruction for standard processes, change documents and experimental trials.
3. Ability to work in low light (darkroom) conditions.
4. Working PC knowledge for standard and custom software.
5. Ability to pass requirements of industrial truck licensing.
6. Ability to meet requirements for respirator use.
7. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and percentages.
8. Able to organize work and effectively manage use of time.
9. Self starter and self motivated.
10. Detail oriented.
11. Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities for CB Coating Unwind/Winder Operations (M2):
1. All Essential Skills and Knowledge.
2. Safely operate a coating machine line which includes unwind, coating station, drying oven and winder sections.
3. Understand machine capability and capacity; idler types, thread up configuration and operational cycles.
4. Trouble shoot machine and operator interface problems.
5. Change coating equipment as required for varying products and coating methods.
6. Complete end product testing per standards.
7. Investigate defects and assist in determining root cause.
8. Able to cross train and fill in for Coater Station Operation.
9. Adapts to changing work conditions without loss of efficiency or effectiveness.
10. 4 crew schedule (3/2 days, 5/2 nights).

Responsibilities for CB Coating Station Operations (M3):
1. All Responsibilities for Coating Unwind/winder Operations (M2).
2. Working knowledge of the coating methods available.
3. Able to set up coating dies (gaps, hard stops, vacuum box).
4. Working knowledge of pumping and filtration systems.
5. Interface with HMI to set up and run Coating and SDS systems.
6. Working knowledge of control charts.
7. Independently manages daily workload.
8. Run and monitors several processes concurrently.
9. Independently recognizes problems and applies product/process knowledge to make decision on corrective action or escalation.
10. 4 crew schedule (3/2 days, 5/2 nights).
