The City of Tacoma has a combination of centralized and decentralized information technology environments. The Information Technology Department supports the enterprise-wide SAP system centrally, while other departments throughout the City have their own department-specific computer application initiatives.
We are seeking a self-motivated person with extensive ERP system administration experience, preferably in a SAP ECC 6 environment. This position calls for strong analytical & design skills, excellent communication, strong leadership skills, documentation skills and ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Lead the BASIS team of six. Assign and check the work of others in the team. Provide guidance, direction and implement SAP best practices. System administration and configuration of an SAP ECC 6.0 environment that includes Solution Manager, Business Warehouse, Netweaver Portals, Ventyx Mobile Solution, associated websites and interfaces. Provide recommendations for architecture, software tools, and roadmaps as they relate to an SAP environment. Provide solutions and resolve complex system issues and problems. Meet schedules and timelines. Skill at estimating the level of effort and resources for technical projects, coordinating technical projects, meeting project schedules and established timelines. Effectively organize and facilitate group discussions across the IT department’s teams, creating a cooperative and productive environment in which to resolve problems or develop and implement plans. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with others. Bachelor degree in computer science or related field and five or more years directly related information technology work experience.
Years of experience may substitute for education.
Selection Process & Supplemental Information:
The IT Analyst classification utilizes a broad banding concept which encompasses the entry-level through the experienced-level position. This recruitment is for a Principal Technical Application Development Systems Analyst. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have their responses to the supplemental questions evaluated by a panel of subject matter experts. These questions will be scored on the basis of information provided; therefore, it is the responsibility of the applicant to carefully list all pertinent experience and training. The evaluation committee will not have access to the candidate's application. Providing false information will result in disqualification. Candidates must pass this evaluation in order to be placed on the eligible list for interview and hiring consideration.
This position is covered by a Labor Agreement between the City of Tacoma and Local 120. An employee in this position will be required to join the union within 30 days of hire. New employees must successfully complete a nine-month probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification. Appointment is subject to passing a background check.
