In consultation with the Network Coordinator, the Site Coordinator is responsible for managing a quality volunteer program and coordinating the daily functions of the Department of Volunteer Services at St. Luke’s Allentown campus.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Surveys hospital needs for volunteers and volunteer services.
Coordinates the efforts of the volunteers with other hospital departments, acting as an internal consultant available to design new programs and address volunteer issues.
Recruits, screens, interviews, selects, assigns and evaluates adult and student volunteers.
Provides an orientation for new volunteers and trains when appropriate.
Oversees risk management of volunteers and disciplinary action to ensure policies and procedures governing volunteers will be in compliance with health care industry laws and regulations.
Oversees management and supervision of the volunteer/s at large.
Takes active role in department based CQI.
Maintains Volunteerworks ™ software program to track volunteer information.
Prepares monthly schedules for departments/units.
Prepares volunteer monthly and annual reports for administration.
Develops annual department goals and objectives and implements policies and procedures for operations of the department.
Develops and recommends department operating/capital budget. Ensures compliance.
Working with the Network Director updates department policies, manuals, handbooks, assignment guides, forms and volunteer educational materials as required.
Orders all volunteer uniforms and name badges.
Assists in the preparation of the annual recognition event for adult and student volunteers and promotes daily recognition.
Schedules hospital tours and assigns Volunteer Tour Guides when applicable.
Prepares articles for quarterly VIP and promotes volunteer activities through campus publications.
Supports mission of hospital through outreach engagements with local, civic, educational, and social and senior organizations.
Attends Network volunteer meetings and supports campus/network activities.
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
Demonstrates / models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes/ Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

Pursues a plan of professional self-development according to the need of the position.
Other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 6 hours per day an hour at a time. Walking for up to 2 hours, 10 minutes at a time. Frequent use of fingers for writing and/or typing (computer), twisting, and turning occasionally. Uses upper extremities to occasionally lift and carry items up to 10 lbs. Occasionally stoops/bends and reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision: some visual monotony.

Maintaining a balance between department responsibilities and volunteer needs. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a changing environment.
Supervised by: Director of Volunteer Services of SLH&HN.
Supervise: Adult and student volunteers
Excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Must be proficient with public speaking.
Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business, Human Resources, Education, Social Work, or Psychology preferred. Associates degree acceptable with three years experience managing volunteers in health care or related environment.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Flexible, motivated individual with high energy level who enjoys working with a diverse group of people. Previous experience preferred in recruiting, interviewing, training and supervision of students/adults in volunteer program setting. Strong organizational skills to develop and run programs. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Familiarity with a health care setting preferred. Adept at computers with experience in Word, Excel, Power Point, Publishing and Outlook preferred. Willing to learn volunteer tracking program.
Day shift with varying hours based on the needs of the department.
