The Birth Center provides 24 hour nursing care and support to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and healthy newborns. We physically are adjacent to the NICU and that proximity allows us to deliver pre-term/high risk infants as well as healthy term newborns. Together, the NICU and Birth Center are the North Central Wisconsin Perinatal Center as to inpatient unit services. We also provide care and support to any pregnant patient that is hospitalized at SJH with pregnancy as a secondary diagnosis. Besides the comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, we provide a full scope of prenatal education programming, a perinatal loss & grief program, antepartum program and lactation consultant support services.
The Registered Nurse, working in collaboration with the primary physician, provides coordination of the patient plan of care and the patient care team. The Registered Nurse works with the patient/family/significant other(s) and interdisciplinary team members to develop an individualized plan of care to include educational and discharge planning interventions. Together with interdisciplinary team members, the Registered Nurse evaluates the plan of care and addresses unmet outcomes for further intervention or consultation. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver care for specified patients in accordance with Saint Joseph's Hospital's Mission, Policies and Procedures and Standards of Practice and Care, and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Assesses patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment, considering the patient's age and development.
Critically analyzes and communicates multi-disciplinary assessment data among team members.
Identifies and diagnoses alterations in findings in conjunction with patient's clinical presentation.
Based on assessment information and in collaboration with patient/family and the interdisciplinary health care team:
Identifies problems and coordinates formation of an interdisciplinary problem list;
Formulates individualized, measurable outcomes;
Develops an individualized plan of care that includes educational and discharge planning interventions;
Implements the patient's plan of care;
Continually evaluates effectiveness of the plan of care; and,
Identifies and takes action to achieve unmet outcomes.
Initiates mobilization of case management resources as needed.
This position will be 36 hours per week on a variable schedule including every third weekend and every other holiday.
Graduation from a National League for Nursing (NLN) approved school with an Associate Degree, Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in nursing is required
Prefer someone with at least 1 year of
experience as an RN but will also consider a new graduate.
Current license to practice as a RN in the State of Wisconsin is required
Ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required
Must be willing to learn new technical skills related to the position on an ongoing basis to maintain satisfactory competence and performance
