LifeScan a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting a Utilities Technician II, for the facility located in Aguadilla, PR.
The Utilities Technician II is responsible for maintenance, operation of utilities equipment, facilities infrastructure and general electrical systems on an industrial, cGMP regulated facility. Utilities equipment includes Chillers, Air Handling Units, Dehumidifiers, Cooling Towers, Compressed Air, Reheat, Fire Prevention, Emergency Power Generators, Water Treatment, UPS and Environmental Control systems. The Utilities Technician II documents all maintenance activities (Preventive or Corrective Maintenance) executed on the site computer maintenance management system (MAXIMO) and on required log books. Executes Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and assist in the troubleshooting and repair of chillers, cooling towers, dehumidifiers, air handling units, air compressors, emergency power generators, uninterrupted power systems, fire prevention systems, water treatment systems and environmental control systems among other utility equipments. Operates and maintains fire prevention systems (pumps, risers, sprinklers, control panels) throughout the facility. Checks performance, and repair, if necessary, electrical and hydraulic system motors. Perform overall lubrication work on equipments motors, transmissions, and load bearing components as per manufacturer specifications and requirements. Utilizes reliability techniques to execute lubrication work (ultrasonic lubrication as required). Checks performance of fans and motors. Performs alignment and vibration evaluations on equipments, replaces and aligns belts if necessary. Handles and manages hazardous materials/waste; complies with all environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous materials handling applicable to area of responsibility. Assists electrician with general duties, such as conduits installation and wiring. Along with other Facilities team members and engineers deliver cost-effective maintenance strategies and projects to meet department saving initiatives and needs. Establishes equipment records, spare parts lists, specification information, Supports Facility Team in performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMCEA) and continuous improvement activities as part of the site maintenance program. The Technician performs, as needed, maintenance service and repairs in the area of plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
A minimum of a Technical Degree such as Refrigeration or Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning field or Electronics is required. At least three (3) years experience working with utilities equipment is required. Experience as a Technician in two or more of the following disciplines: electronics, mechanics, electromechanical, industrial is preferred. Experience in the medical device industry is preferred. Experience in Reliability-Centered Maintenance techniques is highly preferred. Must have technical and maintenance background with knowledge of craft functions and shop operation, safety and GMP procedures. Basic understanding of regulatory requirements for the general industry and medical device industry (GMP and ISO) is required. Must have knowledge of HVAC and Utility systems common to regulated manufacturing environments. Good technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills is required. Ability to use Reliability maintenance tools, such as infrared cameras, vibration analysis monitors, ultrasound devices and precision alignment devices is preferred. Basic computer skills in Microsoft software application (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Excel) are required. Knowledge and experience with various Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) programs (MAXIMO) is preferred. Knowledge in the operation of Building Automation Systems is preferred. Must have ability to read mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic drawings, prints, and schematics. Refrigeration and HVAC Technician Certification is preferred. Certification on Electrical, Electronics or Utilities is preferred. Must be fluent in English/Spanish (read, write, and speak). Able to work on Rotating Shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd shift). Available to work extended shift periods (overtime), weekends, non-regular work periods, holidays, shutdown periods according to plant needs is required. Physical requirements of the position include medium weight work, occasionally heavy, that requires physical strength; communication skills, eye-hand-feet coordination and manuals skills; stoop, kneel, crouch and bend; and regularly lift, carry and/or move objects.
