This position will report to the Director Of Generation Planning, Fossil Plants, Luminant Power, and will be responsible for leading the continued evolution of the Fleet Emissions Control Assets to support Luminant Power’s Asset Strategies for existing and future Solid Fuel and Gas Generation Assets, ensuring that each generating asset, delivers it’s committed, production, in a sustainable manner, at an optimum whole life cost, without compromising health, safety, or environmental performance.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
Facilitate the development and implementation of Operating / Investment Strategies for each Emission Control Asset thru: Development and maintenance of Individual Emissions Control Asset, Life of Plant, O&M and Sustaining CapEx Proforma Inputs, Development and facilitation of associated Capital and O&M special projects, Analysis of operational & maintenance issues and performance & financial statistics to provide recommendations on major areas of plant improvements that will facilitate increased Asset Value
Provide Technical input / due diligence support, to facilitate the continued evolution of Luminant Power’s Commercial, Fuel, and Fossil Generation Asset Strategies in a changing business environment.
Drive to consensus, the Fossil Emissions Control Assets strategies, by maintaining a complete understanding of both Luminant Power’s specific business plan and Energy Future Holding’s corporate business plan, through regular interface with Luminant Financial Planning & Analysis, Luminant Fossil Plant Management, Luminant Power Executives, Luminant Technical Support Services, and Luminant Energy (Wholesale).
Revise and Conform each Luminant Fossil Emissions Control Asset’s Six Year Plan to support above strategies as part of Luminant Fossil Plant Operations’ Six-Year Strategy,
Manage the Implementation of current Six-Year Asset Strategies through facilitation of associated Capital and O&M special projects for Luminant Power’s Fossil Fleet through assigned Generation Specialists and matrixed direction to each facility’s Plant Asset Management Staff.
Develop an equipment monitoring plan for AQCS assets for early indication of performance and reliability issues.
Provide coordination for SCR catalyst management plan development and implementation.
Manage all Fossil Plants’ responses to Environmental / Legal / Regulatory requests.
Act as Fossil Generation’s Primary interface with: Environmental Services for all Permit Submittals, Renewals, and Revisions affecting Luminant Fossil Fleet’s AQCS operations, LUME for evaluation of all Emission Allowance Transactions, Strategic Sourcing to facilitate cost effective acquisition and sales of all AQCS consumables and by products and quality assurance of same, Luminant Mining for Cost Effective Final Disposition of all Combustion By Products, and associated land use issues, Luminant Fuel Management for input into the integrated fuel plan.
Provide coordination and strategic oversight for the long-term planning of Scheduled Plant Overhauls to deliver Minimized Wholesale Replacement Power Cost, CapEx and O&M Special Projects Benefits Delivery, Skilled Craft Availability, Compliance with all ERCOT / Regulatory Commitments
Staff, Develop, and Manage the Performance & Compensation of all assigned Luminant or Third Party resources as the work loads define. The Incumbent will also develop a Work Group Budget as required and administer resources to same.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Bachelor of Science Engineering degree or related Science degree
10+ years of related experience including 6+ years in management/supervision
Technical understanding of fossil fleet programs, processes, and procedures.
Must have achieved recognized standing in professional field through individual contributions.
Knowledgeable of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices; budgeting, planning and scheduling; EFH/Luminant Energy policies and procedures.
Experience leading diverse, multi-functional teams
Advanced Math/Science, Engineering, or Business degree
Applicable industry certification (s)
Texas Professional Engineering registration
Excellent written and verbal communications including public speaking
Adept at communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences with varying skills sets.
