As a member of the CSO team, you will plan, document, coordinate, and perform day-to-day CSO operations and systems administration procedures. Make on-line and off-line configuration changes in support of operations, test or exercises. Support system users, administrators, and maintainers. Diagnose and troubleshoot system problems.
Requirements:
Main criteria is having a TS/SCI clearance, a desire to locate near Vandenberg AFB (near Santa Maria, CA), being technically savvy around computers – not necessarily mainframes, and ability to work a rotating shift. Selected candidate will be trained extensively prior to assuming duties. Specific duties of this position include:
Operate IBM mainframe system and peripheral devices. Identify, report, coordinate, and document system abnormalities. Perform scheduled and unscheduled IPLs/failovers. Coordinate with maintenance/System Center/Job Control on all repair actions/status. Perform scheduled system tasks (database dumps, spool dumps, inventories). Create output products and disseminate, as requested. Initialize Exercise and Training (EAT) on Live/Backup system, as requested. Create Mission/Scenario tapes and follow established handling procedures. Recycle Address Spaces (A/S), as requested. Respond to Communications Replacement Adapter (CRA) failures. Ensure facility security utilizing established entry access procedures. Assist in training of apprentice personnel. Perform daily tape inventory (mission/scenario tapes). Prepare tape boxes/assist librarian, as needed. Ability to work non-standard shifts is a requirement. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Space Defense Operations Center (SPADOC) experience. Applicant will be trained and must pass initial and recurring evaluations to maintain employment.
DoD 8570.01-M IA Workforce Certification Type/Requirements: Candidate must meet minimum certification requirement for DoD Directive 8570, “Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management”. This position requires a minimum certification associated with IAT Level I and may be met with an A+, Network+, or Security+ certification. If candidate does not possess certification, candidate will become certified within 3 months.
Other Desired Skills
Background Experience Required: Ability to operate IBM mainframe systems and associated peripherals is desired but not required. Performs monitoring and management of mainframes, networks and workgroup servers. Works only under general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. VMS, UNIX, and MVS tools experience/knowledge required.
Education and Experience: Associates Degree preferred and 1-5 years experience in a Computer Operations environment.
