The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking a Project Assistant for a position in the Capital Crimes Unit of the Criminal Justice Section. The purpose of the Project Assistant position is to gather confidential records and processing materials for submission to both federal courts and to the Ohio Parole Board. The successful candidate will perform the following duties, which include but are not limited to:

Supports section attorneys and paralegals in trial and appellate preparation; requests documentation from various local and state agencies, clerk of courts, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies and Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections; assists in internet and other computer searches for information and documentation; collates, scans and copies documents; indexes documents and organizes case files; prepares apendices; drafts procedural histories and written summary of trial transcripts for review by attorneys and paralegals; helps locate witnesses; assists with weekly, monthly and anuual reports; maintains Access database; compiles statistical information; prepares correspondence and tracks information; researches and responds to inquiries and complaints; works on special assignments and projects as directed; prepares publications, memos and presentations for dissemination outside work unit; performs other miscellaneous duties (e.g. answers telephones, makes copies, scans materials, sends faxes, attends meetings).

Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate; good written & verbal communication & interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills; experience in use of personal computer; interest in criminal prosecution. Must possess valid Ohio driver license.

Preferred qualifications: post high school education in criminal justice studies or related field; at least 2 years of work experience in a legal environment; proficient in Microsoft Office applications; previous experience in scanning voluminous documents; previous work experience in government environment.
