The Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the marketplace and is committed to promoting a fair and competitive business environment in Colorado.Consumer Protection is our Mission.DUTIES: This position determines safety and soundness of financial institutions by conducting regular examinations and performing off-site monitoring. This position reviews financial statements, budgets, business plans, Call Reports and Uniform Bank Performance Reports (UBPR) to assess a bank's operating strategy and the effect on earnings, liquidity, interest rate risk (IRR) exposure, and capital. Based on the review performed, the position determines if the bank is operating in a safe and sound manner, complies with statutory requirements, and has adequate internal controls in place. This position selects a sample of loan and investment securities for review, determines if loans have been prudently underwritten, and determines that management has performed pre- and post-purchase analysis on investment securities.

This position assists the examiner-in-charge during on-site examinations by completing assigned work programs for various CAMELS areas, and provides a concise narrative statement of the major findings and recommendations. This position may act as asset quality and/or operations manager, and review assisting examiners' work. If needed, acts as examiner-in-charge.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, statistics, or a study field directly related to the assignment AND three year of professional* auditing/examination experience with a state or federal regulated Commercial Bank. Part time experience will be pro-rated.Substitution : At the agency's discretion, graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a accounting, business, economics, finance, or statistics may substitute for the bachelor's degree and one year experience. Professional* work experience which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education may substitute for the bachelor's degree. There is no substitution for the specific experience.*Professional work involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, and personal accountability and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is: uniquely acquired through an intense education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field; and continuously studied to explore, extend, and use additional discoveries, interpretations, and application and to improve data, materials, equipment, applications and methods.Necessary Special Requirement: Applicants must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license. You must write your State of Colorado driver's license number on your application in order to be considered.

This position requires the ability to travel up to 70% of the time, including staying over weekends when required; and the ability to transport equipment including, but not limited to, laptop computers, printers, manuals and supplies.Preferred candidates will be commissioned examiners with a federal or state banking regulatory body or experienced in loan origination, loan grading/classification, and allowance for loan and lease losses methodology.
