The Auto/General Liability Claims Examiner is responsible for providing superior customer service to policyholders, agents, claimants, and others encountered during general claims handling.
-Receives General Liability and/or Auto claim assignments
-Verifies and determines coverage applicable to the loss, including review of both the underwriting file/policy application and specific policy.
-Prepares individual evaluation/exposure analysis within 30 days upon receipt of an assignment and sets appropriate and timely loss and expense reserves.
-Determines the methods and extent of investigation warranted for each claim assigned, as required by established best practices, company claims handling procedures and applicable state regulations.
-Based on the results of the investigation, determines coverage, liability and damages.
-Promptly negotiates appropriate settlements as dictated by the facts and within assigned authority directly with the claimant or plaintiff counsel.
-When appropriate and necessary, consults with Claims Supervisor or Claims Management to obtain authority for activities and settlements that exceed assigned authority
-Documents all significant activities and contacts in the Claims File, in accordance with established best practices, company claims handling procedures and applicable state regulations
- Processes or will obtain appropriate state licenses
-High School Diploma or GED required. College Degree preferred
-Working knowledge of Insurance and/or Claims
-Claims related training courses a plus
