Research & Development ScientistIn this position, you will be responsible for supporting and leading efforts to develop new reagents and technology platforms, as well as improving existing platforms. You will be part of a team of scientists dedicated to the development, validation, and execution of molecular biomarker assays. Specific Duties Include Develop, optimize, and implement molecular biology techniques and skills to plan, design, and conduct experiments in the support of new product development. Create, develop, and optimize new reagents and kits relating to molecular biology and functional proteomics and genomics. Solve complex research, development, and sustaining challenges. Perform data analysis, write reports, and present results and project assessments to senior management. Support the stage-gate new product introduction process with individual and team projects. Serve as the technical lead on cross-functional teams to achieve strategic goals. Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature and attendance at scientific seminars and conferences. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology or related scientific field with 5+ years of related experience; or Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or related scientific field with 3+ years of related experience. 3-5 years of related experience, including experience in molecular biology, sample preparation methodologies, and protein biochemistry. Development and utilization of molecular profiling technologies, including genotyping, qPCR, rt-PCR, multiplex PCR/taqman, gene expression arrays, cytogenetic assays, in situ hybridization, sequencing, and multiplex sequencing. Familiarity with functional proteomics and genomics, target identification and validation, laboratory automation, and data analysis preferred. Experience in protein purification, protein/peptide synthesis, protein sequencing, peptide mapping, immunoassays, antibodies, SDS-PAGE, and fusion protein expression and production a plus. Sound understanding of bioanalytical assay development. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and be flexible in responding to changing demands. Proven ability to work in a team environment and effectively lead team projects. Must be innovative. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Computer proficiency required.
