Manages the daily operations of assigned retail store. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, merchandising and inventory. Responsible for maintaining store in an orderly fashion, rotating merchandise, overseeing the production and pricing of merchandise. Manage inventory for maximum return on product. Operates store and plant efficiently and meets net income goals indicated on annual budget. Supervise and train all store personnel including new employees. Responsible for store safety. Responsible for assuring a high level of customer and donor service. Assure Easter Seals-Goodwill policies and procedures are uniformly adhered.
Essential Job Duties & Expected Outcomes:
Human Resource Management
Evaluate, plan, and monitor staffing levels and labor percentages
Interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees, as per staffing model
Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, and cover for absenteeism
Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
Utilize company provided tools, such as 13-Week Training plans and Station Observation Checklists to assimilate employees into the organization and observe performance/communicate expectations
Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with overall organization, and that emphasizes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
Lead employees to meet the organization’s expectations and established Best Practices for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment
Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning
Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and with the assistance of Retail Director and/or AVP issue appropriate disciplinary actions
Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback
Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication
Comply with, train staff & supervisors, and ensure that all policies and procedures are consistently enforced
Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment
Provide new-employee safety orientations
Conduct monthly safety training and education programs, implement safety topics into daily routine, and demonstrate the safe use of equipment
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards
Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future
Production and Retail Floor
Maintains store premises, fixtures, and signage
Establish donation goals, track donation data, and ensure adequate donations are received to meet store needs
Actively solicit donations from individuals, community organizations, schools, retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and other businesses; coordinate with Retail Director and/or Marketing to develop and implement special campaigns
Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals
Using Best Practices and procedures, plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output
Comply with Best Practices for station layout/configuration
Adhere to Best Practice production procedures
Ensure that work areas remain clean, organized, and free of store merchandise and personal items
Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department
Use information technology to record sales figures for data analysis and forward planning
Ensure standards for quality and customer service are met
Respond to customer complaints and comments, and when required communicate with Retail Directors to resolve issues
Tour the sales floor regularly and identify/resolve urgent issues
Oversee pricing and stock control
Delegates or conducts ongoing Safety, Customer Service, or Production training, with regularly scheduled sessions and daily tool-box talks
Ensure compliance with organization branding guidelines
Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the assigned Goodwill store

Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures
Achieve financial objectives by monitoring annual budget; monitoring and scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Review performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness
Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment
Communicate regularly with other managers, the director, vice president, president, and other designated contacts within the organization
Meets deadlines and ensures that reports are completed accurately and sent to appropriate person/department
Regularly check CCTV/DVR equipment to ensure that it is properly functioning. Contact Asset Protection Department, as needed, to resolve problems
When accidents or suspected theft/loss situations have occurred, review and save copies of CCTV/DVR footage
Conduct physical security checks, record, and resolve concerns in order to minimize potential loss to the company
Communicates with IT Department through the use of Help Desk tickets and other communication methods to resolve technical problems
Essential Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Three years of related leadership experience desired
Sensitive to customer needs and wishes
Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities or other special needs preferred
Must have good driving record and valid drivers’ license
Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community
Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job
Able to lift and carry 20-100 pounds with team lifting or mechanical assistance
Able to stand, stoop, bend, or carry for extended periods
Able to go up and down steps
Tolerance of extreme changes in temperature and humidity
Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends or longer shifts if needed. May be required to work more than 40 hours per week
