Our Client is a globallypositioned proprietary trading firm that remains on the cutting edge of algorithmic trading At Our Client we enjoy a casual atmosphere and a flat organizational structure Our managing partners are passionate about supporting the exploration of new strategies and concepts throughout the company At Our Client potential candidates will find a group of people committed to intellectual rigor strong teamwork and the pursuit of great discoveries We recognize that to remain successful it is imperative that we continue to hire and retain exceptional talent We offer exceptional compensation and benefits packages The individual in this role will serve as the main point of contact ensuring the high performance computing research environment Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following bull Assist in designing implementing and maintaining high performance file storage systems bull Manage and support HPC scheduling software such as Moab Maui or Sun Grid Engine bull Implements and supports performance monitoring and fault monitoring systems bull Monitors systems and storage performance up to and including network components bull Compiles packages installs and upgrades software and operating system components bull Creates scripts and uses tools to automates frequently performed tasks bull Develops improves documents and promotes standard operating procedures bull Interact directly with traders Quants and other IT staff to troubleshoot problems and issues bull Available to work nights and weekends as required Experience and Skills bull Expansive and thorough understanding of Linux both kernel and userland across multiple distributions (RedHat Debian Gentoo etc) bull Working knowledge of highspeed cluster interconnect technology (ie Infiniband Myrinet 10GigE) bull Expert knowledge of high performance file systems and storage technologies such as Lustre GPFS Panasas PanFSor Quantum StorNext FS bull Extensive knowledge of Open Source HPC tools Moab TorqueMaui Ganglia Grid Engine MPI andor PBS bull Outstanding scripting skills in Shell and one or more of Perl Python Ruby bull Thorough understanding of IP networking concepts bull Experience with system (Zenoss Nagios) and log (Splunk syslogng) monitoringanalysis tools bull Experience with CC++ is a plus bull Excellent communication and documentation skills bull Ability to work well as part of a team in a fastpaced environment bull Ability to communicate effectively with people of varying technical abilities bull Ability to work with highly confidential materials bull Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a combination of education and work experience equivalent bull Minimum of 6 years administering Linux server systems bull Prior experience in a clustered compute environment bull Prior experience in the financial industry is not required Unix, Linux, Shell, perl, python, C++
