This position will independently perform and manage any and/or all tasks and activities required to develop high quality Service Operations documentation. This person will have responsibility for the quality of documentation assigned to him/her. He/she will plan, develop, and ensure completion of all documentation elements in a timely manner, and communicate all changes in documentation to appropriate management staff. The Senior Technical Writer will oversee the Claims Training – Technical Writer. Types of documentation included in the scope of this position are RFPs, Service Operations policies and procedures, account presentation materials, Magellan Service Operations Standards Manual, Training Materials, and other documentation as needed.
Meet with Service Operations staff and other subject matter experts throughout Magellan on an ongoing basis during development of documentation to review and analyze requirements for accurate and compliant documentation.
Provide oversight and supervision to Claims Training Technical Writer; coordinate assignment of documents, coordinate and monitor the progress of the team against deadlines, review documentation to ensure consistency, and manage project schedules.
Write documentation, obtain appropriate approvals of completed documentation and distribute to appropriate end users.
Edit documentation language to ensure compliance with requirements and to ensure readability and user-friendly communication to targeted audience.
Maintain database with answers for proposal requests. Update with new information to reflect any changes within Service Operations policies and procedures.
Maintain documentation change control process for revisions and archiving of historical documentation.
Coordinate with trainers and assure training documents are up to date and accurate.
Oversee daily updates on Claims MagIC website to assure that documentation is posted timely and is easily accessible to users.
Performs other general tasks as assigned.
Experience: 5-8 years.
Job Specific: 5 years managed care/claims processing knowledge and experience writing and documenting detailed procedures.
Will accept an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Other: Excellent writing and organizational skills; strong command of the English language; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; ability to analyze documentation to determine customer requirements; ability to translate directions, processes and customer requirements into effective desk top reference text; ability to work closely with staff to develop documentation.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Word; knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or English.
Experience: Writing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Understanding of knowledge management; good knowledge of Magellan claims processing.
