NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

DUTIES:
THIS IS A PERMANENT POSITION

This position is located within the Air National Guard at a Geographically Separated Unit (GSU), but not collocated with the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) and reports directly to the Commander or Detachment Commander. The purpose of this position is to organize, develop, and administer locally authorized military human resources actions for the unit and to provide counseling and assistance to assigned personnel and their dependents. Forwards additional human resources actions to appropriate host Military Personnel Flight (MPF). This position may be tasked to perform a variety of administrative and other duties that support the military human resources function.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GENERAL: Experience in administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position; experience using computer and automation systems.

Human Resources Assistant GS-0203-07: Must have at least 12 months experience in processing a wide range of transactions and providing technical assistance in executing programs related to any of a variety of military human resources program areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following knowledge’s, skills, and abilities will be used by the selecting officials to determine the best qualified applicants from which selection will be made:
1. Knowledge of basic rules, regulations and policies which govern performance of the work.
2. Knowledge of government wide rules, regulations, laws and policies governing the type of transactions being dealt with.
3. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
4. Skill in gathering information and data to provide technical and clerical support in the administration of the human resources system.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : High School graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for 3 months of specialized experience. Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of one academic year of study (i.e. 36 weeks of substantially full-time study, or 30 semester hours or the equivalent) for 12 months of the required experience.

**Course work in fields closely related to those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance.**

  • CREDITING EXPERIENCE: NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE MAY BE CREDITED AS FULL-TIME EXPERIENCE WHEN EVALUATED AGAINST THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A MILITARY TECHNICIAN POSITION. EXPERIENCE MUST BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION AND MUST BE DESCRIBED IN THE WORK EXPERIENCE SECTION OF THE APPLICATION AND/OR résumé . THE LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE IS DETERMINED BY THE ACTUAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED. BE DESCRIPTIVE, A SIMPLE LIST OF JOB TITLES AND DATES WILL NOT SUFFICE.
Conditions of Employment:
Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.

Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.

Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
