The Math Intervention Teacher supports staff with math instruction, intervention, and assessments and identifies strategies to meet the math needs of at-risk students through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports.

Duties and Responsibilities


Assist with identifying professional development needs and materials for planning and implementing scientifically based math strategies


Work collaboratively to design literacy strategies for at-risk students


Support the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)


Provide staff development in the area of math and MTSS for district personnel


Model and coach staff regarding specialized math instruction for exceptional and at-risk students


Consult and collaborate with general education math curriculum specialists


Assist Teachers with identifying math deficits through the use of diagnostic tolls and through progress monitoring


Perform other duties related to the implementation of MTSS and math interventions

Skills and Educational Requirements

The skill requirements are:

Background knowledge and experience in teaching math to elementary students

Familiar with district/state math standards and assessments

Experience in preparing and presenting professional development in-services

Strong organizational and planning skills

Ability to coordinate efforts for the timely accomplishment of short and long term goals

Proficiency in problem solving and willingness to perform a variety of tasks

Excellent oral and written communication skills

High level of performance as a master teacher

The educational requirements are:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree

Elementary Teaching Certificate

Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in USD 259
