In order to fulfill our commitment, we are currently recruiting for a Program Manager in our Cedar Rapids, IA location. Job SummaryThe Program Manager will manage system and software project activities associated with the definition, development, field test, acceptance, and rollout of Positive Train Control products and services to railroad customers. The position will be the primary point of contact with the customer, with responsibility for managing and communicating project plans and status, invoicing, and contracts. The Program Manager will ensure projects are completed within budget, on time, and meet customer requirements.Job Responsibilities Facilitate construction of Customer Requirements Document (CRD) with the customer. Develop the Master Software Project Plan which supports the CRD, to include identification of work and organizational breakdown structures, cost and material estimates, project schedule, requirements creation and management, risk and communication management plans. Create documents and coordinate with Legal counsel, for contracts associated with Master Schedule of Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Software Licensing agreements, and Production support. Prepare and manage to a Master integrated Project Schedule, obtain concurrence of all participating organizations and negotiate agreement with the customer. Allocate and track funds for the program on a required basis to the performing organizations Conduct periodic program reviews addressing costs, schedules, risks and customer considerations Develop and manage sub-contractor/third party business relationships associated with the program. Manage field tests, acceptance tests and coordination of system implementation with the customer. Monitor program success against the targets cost, margin, schedule, manning, and customer requirements and make required adjustments to meet program internal expectations. Manage customer enhancement programs including all bid and schedule estimates and management approval activities.
Minimum 5 years experience in Systems/Software Project management. BS/BA degree required, with preference given to engineering or software fields, and those with extensive business management experience. Demonstrated ability to achieve continuous, process-driven improvement of train control business. Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely, tailored to audience. Self-motivated with strong leadership and team-building skills. Ability to develop high level of credibility and strong positive relationships with subordinates, peers, and management. Desired Program Management Institute Project Management Professional, or commensurate certification. 10-20% travel requirement.
