Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Bookstore Manager, this position manages course materials process from adoption through purchasing, receiving, department set-up, sales, returns, and inventory. This position is also responsible for controlling the inventory in the course materials area as well as floor supervision in the course materials department and serves as the Bookstore liaison to faculty, staff and vendors on academic and course related issues. This position also develops and implements marketing and promotional plans for the course materials department in conjunction with the Student Center's Marketing Coordinator.

Additional Duties:

Coordinates and supervises the ordering process for textbooks and related academic materials requested by faculty for use in University courses. Supervises course materials personnel. Responsible for hiring and training of course material employees. Initiates and approves purchase orders for course-related materials. Recommend pricing strategy to the Bookstore Manager to meet organizational goals. Manage semester end course materials inventory and participate in year-end store inventory. Initiates and approves purchase orders for course-related materials. Ensures timely delivery and prompt payment of invoices. Develops and maintains merchandise budgets for the course materials department. Ensures timely stocking and identification of textbooks. Monitors receiving and transferring of product. Maintains standard operating procedures manual for the course and general book departments. Recommends pricing strategy to the Bookstore Manager to meet organizational goals. Manages semester end course materials inventory and participates in year-end store inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Retail Management or related area. Combination of education and experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Required Experience: Two years of retail management experience including inventory control with at least two years of management experience in a University/College textbook department. Two to four years of supervisory experience in a retail/college store environment or equivalent. Working knowledge of merchandise planning, knowledge of a retail management information system (preferably Nebraska Book systems) and publisher, wholesaler and book distributor practices and experience with vendor negotiations.
