Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care has an exciting opportunity for a healthcare communications professional for its Columbia, Maryland-based QIO. The Communications Specialist duties and responsibilities include:
  • Writes communications that effectively position the QIO and its services, including press releases, pitches, and articles
  • Assists in the conceptualization, design, and production of new marketing materials and campaigns for the QIO, including outreach flyers and other collateral pieces
  • Writes and distributes press releases; create and maintain media lists; edit project documents; track deliverables; ensure compliance with CMS requirements for outreach and publications
  • Assists in evaluating effectiveness of communications activities
  • Assists in the development and implementation of strategic communications and public relations plans
  • Maintains a comprehensive, internal library of communications and public relations activities, measures, and successes
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with stakeholders and key media outlets through proactive outreach
  • Creates, posts, and edits of content on Delmarva's Web sites to ensure they are up-to-date with new releases and marketing materials
  • Adheres to corporate and contract-specific requirements for written materials
  • Facilitates external and internal communications using all available channels effectively
  • Works with other team members and counterparts to ensure consistency of messages
  • Tracks internal and external customer requests to completion
  • Identifies trends and pitch ideas to generate media coverage

Requirements

Required Experience
  • B.A. in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline
  • Three to five years of communications and/or public relations experience, preferably in a healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience contributing to successful, creative, and strategic communications and public relations campaigns to raise brand profile.

  • Ability to handle process-oriented tasks, understanding and applying regulations to work product
