Position Summary

The Loyola University Health System Chief Quality Officer, reporting to the Senior Vice President Clinical Affairs, is responsible for providing overall vision and direction for all aspects of quality and patient safety in the health system. The Chief Quality Officer is accountable for improving clinical quality and patient safety scores and will work collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to build and maintain a culture of safety. The incumbent will provide leadership for quality, patient safety, and clinical performance improvement at all hospitals and clinics within LUHS through the setting of priorities, allocation of resources, oversight of policies and procedures, determination of short and long term strategic plans and evaluation of progress made towards the achievement of goals and objectives. The Chief Quality Officer will be responsible for integrating both quality and cost information and for development of measurement and reporting tools which provide performance feedback to medical staff and manage ongoing improvement. Additionally, the Chief Quality Officer willensure that the health system meets accreditation and regulatory standards, fulfills federal and state reporting requirements and provides the highest quality care in a safe, timely, and patient centered manner.


The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Minimum of MS in healthcare administration or clinical area, MBA, MHA or related degree. MD or PhD preferred.
  • At least ten years progressive leadership experience in quality management within an academic medical center or large health system.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills to successfully lead system-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary teams to collaborate across a complex health system and engage all levels of the organization in the highest quality outcomes.
  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Skills to apply process improvement methodologies to improve performance.
  • Advanced training or certification in quality and patient safety is a plus.
