Montgomery College, Office of Workforce Development & Continuing Education, has need for a full-time Adult ESOL & Literacy Instructor. Work schedule is 40 hours per week and may include occasional evenings or weekends. This is a temporary position with benefits, and is funded out of alternative funding through June 30, 2014, with probability for continuation beyond that date.

Job Summary:

Position is responsible for Curriculum development and planning according to the College’s guidelines.

The Adult ESOL & Literacy Instructor:
Assesses and defines the language, basic skills and workforce-readiness competencies.
Develops curricula with goals and objectives that integrate content area knowledge and skills.
Designs and implements integrated and nonintegrated lesson plans and instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Delivers instruction using both co-teaching and single instructor models.
Identifies and selects different instructional resources and methods to meet student’s’ varying needs.
Designs and uses informal assessments that support overall goals and objectives.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Applied Linguistics (TESOL) or closely related field.
Two years of experience developing curricula with goals and objectives that integrate content area knowledge and skills integrated with English language skills, basic skills, and workforce readiness
Three years of experience providing English as Second Language (ESOL) instruction, preferably to adults.
Ability to identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs which link to learning objectives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
Ability to teach basic numeracy, digital literacy, and general workplace skills
Skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work independently in a flexible and fast paced environment; reason and exercise judgment and discretion.
Experience with co-teaching instruction delivery.
