BIG news today at the United Way of the National Capital Area: our boutique in-house marketing department is hiring an Online Producer to help us change the world and advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all! Now on to the position specifics. It's full-time, regular, exempt, with excellent benefits. It's located out of our DC office, and the official description and list of responsibilities are as follows:
Our Online Producer is both the heartbeat of and air traffic controller for unitedwaynca.org and all our other online properties, social networks and email marketing. You make content, publish/ broadcast it on schedule (or enable others to do so), and understand how to measure and communicate its impact. And, you solve technical problems that might prevent any of this from working properly, because time is money and we have no time to waste. That's the elevator pitch, but I should probably be a little more specific about what we're looking for, so...
Here are the essentials: • Be prepared to create, edit and arrange the text, video, audio, images and other materials that may be included on United Way NCA's website(s), social networks and other online channels. You are the point for helping to define and maintain the character of our online properties, and in concert with our IT Department and outside vendors, helping to ensure it all runs smoothly. • The role is a hybrid, and you need to be comfortable with that. Add one part strategist, one part web designer/part developer, one part technical writer and one part project manager, mix and stir and that's you! As such, some technical and design knowledge is imperative for you to be effective at your job. In other words, you should be comfortable with common design and web publishing technologies such as Photoshop, Illustrator, CSS, HTML and various CMS. Familiarity with Expression Engine would allow you to hit the ground running. • Your success is wrapped up in helping to find ways to boost the popularity of and increase online user engagement with our online properties, so managing our pay-per-click advertising and institutionalizing web analytics, SEO and SEM across the organization must be a high priority for you.
And here's some fine print: • You will work in DC (and sometimes in our Vienna, VA office). You will report directly to our Studio Director of Client Service, because client service and satisfaction is what we are all about. • You will interface with and leverage other studio members such as content producers, production coordinators to ensure smooth workflow. • You will also go out "on assignment" and work directly with internal and external clients when the nature of the project demands it. If you are still reading, and your heart is beating faster, then you probably know in your gut whether you have the passion, creativity and technical expertise necessary to help us advance our causes and important work. If you need more detail about the secret sauce that would make this your job, try this: • You must have great people skills • You have a Bachelor's degree at minimum, at least 4 years' experience as a web content, new media or internet manager and practical experience utilizing web analytics applications. • You love technology, the web, and social networking. • You are customer oriented and super organized • You're dying for a job that will challenge both the logical left and creative right side of your brain...everyday. • And finally, you live to get things done and create positive change in your community, our region and in the world
