Courage Center is actively seeking (2) Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) Specialist Positions.

Purpose of this job:
To provide Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health (ARMHS) Services: to instruct, support and assist clients with mental health disabilities in developing and maintaining skills essential for living in the community as independently as possible and to enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies and personal and emotional adjustment. While many clients also have other disabilities, including brain injury, physical disabilities or leaning disabilities, their impairments in functioning are related to their mental health diagnosis.

We use a holistic approach that includes comprehensive rehabilitation therapies, independent living services, drivers services, a community reintegration program, accessible aquatics and fitness programs, camps, and adapted sports and recreation programs. We have an inpatient residential program for rehabilitation after brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury, as well as a chronic pain rehabilitation program. We also advocate for people with disabilities at the legislature and in other public forums.

We have locations in Golden Valley, Stillwater, Burnsville and Forest Lake, as well as a sports and recreation office in Duluth.

Major Job Responsibilities:
Participates in initial assessment of clients to identify their individual needs for ARMHS services. Provides input in the development of the Functional Assessment for each client and updates as needed. Develops and implements the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) for each client, updating as needed.

Provides all services as outlined in the ITP, so that consumers increase or maintain their skills related to community and independent living and in managing their mental health symptoms. This includes providing skill development, training, education, support and assistance to each client as defined by the ITP. Skill development areas include mental health symptom management, interpersonal skills, leisure skills, financial management, household management, vocational and educational skills, accessing the community and transportation, obtaining and maintaining their housing, etc. May include transporting clients in ARMHS Specialist’s own vehicle.

Assists with coordinating the services of mental health, health care and rehabilitation providers so that clients’ needs are being met.

Documents on each client in order to meet funding requirements. Case record includes daily records of contact hours and rehabilitation interventions provided. Documents actual number of service units provided, meeting productivity targets so that sufficient revenue is generated by the program to meet operating expenses.

Participates in department meetings and clinical supervision. Seeks out learning opportunities for self and resources for clients. Shares information with other team members. Follows all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and conducts oneself in accordance with the Courage Center Code of Ethics.

Other duties as assigned.


Education/Work Experience

Required: BA/BS in Mental Health Related Field, 2000 hours supervised experience working with individuals with mental illness.


Preferred: CBIS, CPRP

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, drive, bend, reach above shoulder, kneel, lift/carry/push max 50#, talk/hear in person, talk/hear on phone, vision for close work, repetitive foot/hand movement.
