Provides instruction and related activities in qualified area(s) of English, including African American Literature and composition; may also teach in Humanities or related qualified areas as needed. Teaches four (4) classes per semester during the regular academic year; provides departmental, college and university service through committee appointments and other tasks as assigned. Participates in ongoing professional development through research productivity in the field; maintains at least 10 office hours per week. Assists in academic advising, engages in student mentorship and retention efforts
Ph.D. in English or related field with emphasis in African American literature required; ABD's will be considered with stipulation for degree completion by August 2013. Previous instructional experience at the college level preferred. Background and/or credit check may be required.
