Job Duties:
As a volunteer you will support the work of Future Generations Surpass and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While the day-to-day operations are led by Future Generations Surpass' chief executive officer (CEO), the Volunteer-Board of Directors-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of everyone is both critical and expected. Specific volunteer responsibilities include:
Provide a styling brief:
Present a wardrobe development plan.
Match the client's style of dressingwith the image they wish to display.
Make recommendations as to what fashion choices will best suit the client's desired image.
Choose clothing and accessories appropriate for the client in order to enhance their public image.
Assort garments with complementary accessories to create an ensemble.
Create outfits that will photograph well. Help client choose complimentary hairstyle and makeup.
Search for items that complement the client's figure.
Educate the client on issues regarding accessories and clothing maintenance.
Create unique looks.
This job entails virtual online shopping and some travel to locate specific garments and accessories for the client.
Keep up with current fashion trends and be aware of different styles that will be appropriate for the client.
Job Requirements:
Be prepared to contribute their time and other resources. Volunteers should be prepared to contribute to the work of the organization. In addition, volunteers should willingly contribute their expertise (e.g. marketing, lobbying, accounting, legal, etc.) to further the aims of the organization.
Ensure compliance with regulations and accrediting bodies.
Report to the CEO of the organization.
Individual agendas must be subordinate to the aims of the organization. Acting out of self-interest is to be discouraged.
Keep discussions and reports confidential.
Provide input into the strategic plan and monitor the organization's progress towards achieving established goals.
Complete all duties with discretion and confidentiality, and treats each client with respect and professionalism.
Must be able to effectively communicate and be able to accommodate in a fast paced environment. Reliability is also key, especially with prearranged times. Stylists will be booked for specific assignments.
Must have the ability to create unique designs. This job entails travel to locate specific garments and accessories for the client. Must work with other team members, such as photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists, lighting designers, set builders, etc. The stylist must have open lines of communication with these departments to locate wardrobe and accessories for events or shoot as well as to style the ensembles accordingly to the vision.
Must possess an excellent sense of fashion. Should possess a strong interest in fashion and have a natural eye for style and color. An outgoing and friendly demeanor when working with the client. Have a keen eye for spotting fashion trends and creating ensembles; current and past fashion trends, as well as future forecasts. Stylist must keep up with current fashion trends and be aware of different styles that will be appropriate for the client.
Must possess exceptional presentation skills and should also enjoy shopping. Must have the ability to match the clients' style of dressing with the image they wish to display. Must be professional by meeting deadlines and responding promptly to the client. Stylist need to have a strong understanding of design and manufacturing techniques and how these can affect the types of clothes and accessories that are created.
