Senior Design Manager

Achieve excellence in design by creating Panera Brand and Concept differentiation and developing unique customer experience while maintaining café operational efficiencies for all Company and Franchisees, New Development, Remodels, and Drive-Thru Retrofit projects based on Established Rules of Engagement, Prototypes Standards and Specifications.
Review of Existing Conditions (EC) Packages and Site Investigation Reports (SIRs) to better understand site-specific elements/issues/challenges and Code requirements.
Develop solutions that take into consideration of the existing architectural elements of the space through a disciplined approach to design, including pre and post site evaluations.
Work in a collaborative minds set with Development Team members (REM's, DPM's, and CPM's), Operations (AD and/or JVP), and Franchisees in delivering on Design Applications accountabilities with ops package production and sign-off - while driving quarterly production and full-year reviews for new cafes, drive-thru retrofits and defensive remodels.
Ensure the Company's and Franchisee's bakery-café designs are consistent with latest Prototype Standards and Specifications, for both New Construction and Special Projects.
Remain aware of new operational procedures and initiatives as well as consumer solutions - while keeping focused on executing global development objectives.
Control and minimize the cost of Company and Franchise bakery-café build-outs, retrofits, and defensive remodels through the development, implementations and maintenance of the prototype bakery-café cost control model.
Provide when requested Test-Fits of any unique and challenges spaces and/or exterior trade-dress design elements.
Review and approve shop drawings of signage package and casework drawings.
Collaborate with development team to ensure that issues of design and environmental qualities are being enforced and monitored.
Scope Company and Franchisees Cafés to support the defensive remodel and drive-thru retrofit program.
Provide design support / solutions to consultants' and contractors' during the construction phase.
A degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
Five years experience working in a similar field with increasing job responsibilities.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in AutoDesk AutoCAD.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, highly organized, detailed oriented, ability to be self-starter, work independently and in a team environment.
Strong work ethic, professional attitude with ability to thrive in a high energy, high pressure and constantly changing environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects timelines and schedules simultaneously with ability to work with little supervision and produce quality work and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to communicate well and work productively with colleagues, other members of the Panera Support Center, as well as others in the architectural & construction and local City Building and Planning communities.
Willingness to travel when needs or required.
