This is a QA leadership position. Your focus will be devising and implementing the validation strategy of new stories, features and other dev work. You will own the quality of your stories, period. If you haven’t signed off on it, it won’t ship.

We know this is an exciting position and an awesome place to work, so we have pretty high standards. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of success, preferably in an agile environment similar to ours. This is what we expect you to do on a daily basis:

Work through the elaboration of new stories with developers and product managers in order to identify risk areas, including performance, security, and any other relevant concerns

Develop a comprehensive strategy that mitigates those risks through white-box, grey-box and black-box testing, automation, integration testing, third-party tools, etc and articulate that strategy to the story team

Execute that strategy personally, in partnership with the rest of the story team, and via close collaboration with the off-shore testing team

Track and report validation status through story completion, close the loop with deploy validation and a regression plan, and participate in a culture of continuous process improvement

Required Skills/Education:
BS in Computer Science, or a related discipline or experience.

Must have solid understanding of database features such as indexes, stored procedures, and database partitions.

Trained and/or experienced in an Agile or Rapid Development methodology.

4+ years experience in quality engineering and software test development.

Must be detail oriented with experience in quality assurance, relational database testing, and web server technologies.

Must be able to write complex database queries in performing gray-box and white-box testing.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Demonstrated results in delivering high quality in an agile environment with minimum supervision.

Strong software design verification and test development instincts and creativity. This includes problem solving and quality risk assessment.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Proven leadership in directing validation efforts.

Experience with performance and stress testing on relational databases .

Experience with database security testing on relational databases.

Experience with validation of globalization, internationalization, and/or localization support within .Net applications.

Experience using MS .Net, QTP, Selenium, RedGate, Ruby, or jMeter test automation tools and technologies.

Experience using Software (web) architecture-based testing in the daily testing of a work product.

This position operates in a team-oriented, agile environment in the product engineering group. As a result, the incumbent must build and maintain strong and effective working relationships within QA and across functional teams in product development, program management, hosted operations and technical support.

This is an individual contributor position working for the Quality Assurance Manager.

Working Conditions:
This position is located in downtown Portland.

Travel requirements are minimal.

Majority of time is spent working at a computer.

Incumbent must pass a background check.
