Description GENERAL SUMMARY:|
Applies ionizing radiation to oncology patients in accordance with the prescription
and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Maintains accurate treatment records.
Processes orders for specific exams required during treatment. Acts as a liaison
between the physician, patient and patient's family. Monitors patient for any
adverse reactions during radiation therapy. Provides care based on physical,
psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of
patients served in assigned area. Demonstrates professional responsibility and

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education, Experience and Training:
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy
Technology, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists and licensed by the State of Louisiana.
2. An extensive knowledge of radiation therapy concepts, applications and
administration is required in order to competently deliver radiation therapy
to patients. An understanding of all equipment, its use and care.
B. Other Qualifications:
1. The ability to operate all radiation oncology equipment, computers,
calculators, cameras, styrofoamer, and immobilization devices. Experience
in the fabrication of contours, cases and patient immobilization devices.
These skills are typically acquired through three months on the job
2. Ability to chart accurately and maintain all data pertinent to patient's
~ therapy and care.
