LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking a highly skilled and conscientious leader for the Center Team Captain (Manager/Phlebotomist) position in Opelika, AL. The Center Team Captain is responsible for overseeing center donor collection functions and for ensuring that the assigned team meets collection goals, functions as a cohesive unit, and operates safely, smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. The selected candidate will provide the highest level of customer service to our volunteer blood donors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Oversee center donor collection functions

· Ensure all collections operations comply with LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures

· Ensure team collection and recruitment goals are achieved or exceeded

· Perform and oversee all team functions including donor interviews, examinations, and phlebotomy

· Perform blood collections using automated technologies

· Manage Donor Services Specialists and Team Leaders for assigned team

· Oversee, direct, and monitor all activities of staff

· Ensure quality control on all blood collection equipment is performed and records are maintained appropriately

· Participate in training of donor services staff


· High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

· One year of phlebotomy experience desired

· Previous supervisory experience desired

· Valid driver’s license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements

· CDL may be required; High-quality training provided

· Must have consistent and reliable transportation

· Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills

· This position is expected to display positive customer service skills to both internal and external customers

· Focused on producing high quality and detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures

· Effective in implementing decisions and enforcing policies

· A strong team leader with proven leadership skills to supervise diverse teams and promote steady, methodical work output so that job routines can be completed on time and error-free

· A solid communicator with strong organizational skills and initiative to increase blood collections
