Skinny on the Position
EdgeCast is looking for a LAMP developer with experience developing vertically through the whole stack. The ideal candidate is comfortable as an independent sole contributor wearing many hats: programming to system administration to business analysis to customer service. If you’ve always been the type of deeply technical developer with a natural curiosity to get under the hood and tweak every layer in the stack, while keeping the customer’s business objectives clearly in mind and gunning for tight deadlines, then this is the opportunity you’ve been seeking.
Cool stuff you’ll be doing every day:
As the Subject Matter Expert for LAMP development, complete multiple custom programming projects, including: API integration, Log processing, configuring virtual machines, automation code, media encoding, etc.
In a LINUX environment, designs and codes programs using Python, Perl, or PHP
Develops with an understanding of implication of performance, security and best practices for coding and code structure.
LINUX (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat) duties include: scripting, rsync, ftp server setup/config, DNS, basic networking and routing tables
HTTP duties include: creation of virtual servers, knowledge of HTTP headers, URL rewriting, performance optimization
What you bring to the table:
Experience developing across all areas of web and ETL development
Knowledge of Python, Perl or PHP (experience with all 3 highly desirable)
Excellent system administration knowledge, especially Apache servers
Command-line skills in LINUX (Ubuntu, Debian and RedHat)
Well rounded technical skills from design, coding, system administration, OS deployment, server management, client interface, business analysis
Flawless communication skills – this is a client-facing role for a high-profile Fortune 500 customer
