We are seeking interns to work with our platform security engineering team. In this role you will help develop a tool based on the Drools rules engine that will develop and apply fixes to security issues identified by the OpenSCAP security analysis package. The goal is to develop a demonstration of an automated system for identifying and resolving security issues, showing how OpenSCAP and AI can be applied to security problems.
Primary job responsibilities
* Setting up the basic infrastructure for developing and applying Drools based rules on Fedora
* Integrating the system with OpenSCAP security reports on the Fedora system
* Creating a representative example of a rules base for taking a specific OpenSCAP reported security issue, and applying this resolution to a Fedora system
* Prepare a demonstration showing:
* A security issue on a Fedora system
* Identification of this issue using OpenSCAP
* Applying a Drools ruleset to resolve the issue
* Applying the resolution to the Fedora system
* Running OpenSCAP again to show that the issue has been resolved
Required skills
* Experience with AI and Expert Systems
* Experience using a Linux operating system
* Familiarity with developing automated rules based problem resolutuion systems
Desired, but not required, skills:
* Experience with JBoss Drools
* Experience using Fedora and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
* Experience working on an open source project
