The Educational Specialist will work in Upson, Lamar, Spalding, and Pike Counties. The Specialist will be employed by the Atlanta Metropolitan State College Thomaston TRIO Programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
The Educational Specialist will represent Atlanta Metropolitan State College and the Thomaston TRIO Program-Educational Opportunity Center selecting/recruiting low-income, first generation individuals who wish to pursue their educational goals. Other duties:

Establishes and maintains record keeping for all phases of the project; communicates with participants, educational partners, and staff to identify and address needs, answer questions, make referrals, and provide information and assistance regarding processes and program services as well as information about college and community resources; monitors and updates participant files/records on a regular basis; participants in staff meetings and academic and cultural event planning; identifies and communicates the admission, financial aid process and scholarship resources for participants; assists other staff in developing and providing relevant workshops.

A bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services or related field is required; must have good oral and written communication skills with proven interpersonal skills; strong presentation/public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Must experience in TRIO, higher education, or similar programs; must have knowledge of college admission and financial aid application processes; and familiarity with Blumen Software.

Advertised Salary and Benefits:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the budgetary parameters of the college and of the University System of Georgia. There are no benefits associated with this position.
