Ground Support Equipment Department (GSE) provides complete Aftermarket facilities support, specialized test equipment, tooling, training and documentation support. We have the resources and expertise to design, qualify, and manufacture first in class equipment and systems for our aerospace customers worldwide.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the designs of complex test equipment and tools, fixtures, set-up equipment, handling equipment, etc. in support of the variety of HS mechanical and electronic flight hardware products. Also, the support of the equipment manufacture and performance of First Article Fit & Function with the flight hardware is required.

The designs entail the performing of a detailed analysis of the flight hardware as necessary for the performance requirements, tool access and fit, tolerancing, handling and manufacturability. The tasks consist of the selection of parts, materials, processes and performing the detailed documentation (drafting inputs, writing first article test procedures and checking). Also required are tasks to support a myriad of legacy tools and test products, processing engineering changes, and field support of customer inquiries, etc.

The individual must be a self-starter, able to set own priorities to meet individual schedules and budgets. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills are required to interface with customers, drafting, purchasing, shop and vendors performing the tools manufacture.

BS Mechanical Engineering minimum

Minimum Qualifications:
(a2 2 -5 years Aerospace industry work experience

(a2 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required

(a2 Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary along with the ability to work in a team environment

(a2 Candidate must have understanding of mechanical principles, engineering drawings depicting details/assemblies/schematics and aerospace industry standards.

(a2 Background in mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, pneumatics, materials, and knowledge of controls engineering is desirable.

(a2 Experience in the design of tools and manufacturing practices is desirable.

(a2 Use of CAD tools (Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Vectorworks, etc).

(a2 Project scheduling

(a2 Earned value management

(a2 Tool and test equipment estimation to support proposal activity

(a2 Outsource management (able to work closely with our contractors/suppliers)

Occasional (domestic and international) required for equipment installations support, training and/or servicing existing equipment.
