The Senior Director of Nursing Operations (SDNO) provides operational, educational, and quality support to the Department of Nursing. The SDNO collaborates with the Chief Nurse Executive and shared governance councils to establish standards related to practice, policy, and quality. Must have a BSN. Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.

Creats an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of clinical employees. Assist the Chief Nurse Executive in providing leadership to nurse employees that will enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and have them actively participate in decisions that impact the hospital. Assist the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations. Partnering with physicians who use, or will use, the hospital. Assisting the CNE in establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services. In charge of establishing and maintaining the Nursing Quality Program. Developing organizational patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered and evaluated. Assisting the CNE in developing and managing the nursing services budget and ensuring sufficient number of qualified staff to assess patient needs. Assisting the CNE in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs. Planning and providing nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness. Analyzing areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities including Transformational Care (TC). Representing the nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department heads in designing and providing patient care and services. Providing leadership to assigned nursing shared governance councils.

The Senior Director of Nursing Operations will report directly to the Chief Nurse Executive. Will act at the CNE in their absense.

Ten (10) years of progressive management experience with at least five (5) years experience at the director level in an acute hospital. BSN Required. Masters Degree in Nursing Preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledgeable in Microsoft applications. CA RN License and BLS required.
