A completed Master's degree at time of appointment is required. A strong preference for formal education with a significant course work in a discipline or program related to working with youth and program development and implementation. Examples include: youth development leadership, public administration, education, psychology, sociology and social work. Course work in child and adolescent development, educational program design, experiential learning and pedagogy is preferred.
At least two years of post-degree professional experience in youth development field required. Examples include: Cooperative Extension; elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education; national or community based youth organizations or foundations. Professional experience must include responsibility for educational program development, design, delivery and evaluation. Preference for additional experience related to one or more of the following: direct youth work; program administration; volunteer support and management; program coordination and event planning; risk management; research and evaluation of youth programs and staff support and supervision.
