SUMMARY: The Industrial Engineer I position is responsible for tracking and evaluating site performance metrics. This position will use data to influence plant project work and to prioritize Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery initiatives. The IE 1 is a resource to the manufacturing engineering, operations and maintenance teams and will also work in collaboration with all other GMCR functional groups within the plant, other GMCR sites, Enterprise and with various material and equipment suppliers and vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver increased uptime and product quality by using data to influence and guide engineering projects.
Drive production efficiency gains through data-driven decision making.
Improve process flow and reduce cycle time through waste elimination.
Lead formal root cause analysis with technical and production teams to identify and eliminate recurring packaging quality problems.
Ensure that trainers in production and maintenance fully understand the Job Breakdown sheets.
Develop methods for acquiring and tracking critical data metrics to monitor production performance.
Utilize statistical data analysis of critical process indicators where possible.
Strong hands-on focus and presence on Manufacturing floor with Production Teams.
Identify opportunities for enacting standard work procedures and Job Instruction.
Managing capital and/or other engineering projects as assigned.
OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:
Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by GMCR and the engineering department
Performs other duties as requested by management
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering preferred.
3 years experience in a manufacturing production facility preferred
Ability to make data-driven decisions
Ability to communicate and facilitate among a wide variety of functional areas and levels of the workforce, up to and including the site and corporate staff.
Ability to think both tactically and strategically.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and other manufacturing continuous process improvement theory. Lean 6 Sigma green belt desirable.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and influence the work of others
Hands-on mechanical aptitude
Excellent project management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs like Excel, MS Project, Word, and Power Point.
Familiarity with manufacturing data systems and databases desired
Ability to work hours outside of routine schedule as necessary and travel occasionally.
Ability to effectively perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions
Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (~40% of the workday)
Project Management (~40% of the workday)
Some time spent in the manufacturing and distribution environment measuring, evaluating, and implementing. (~20% of the workday).
