The Wells Fargo Securities Technology team is looking for an Application System Engineer (ASE) Provides technical consultation and support in the development of computer applications and programs. Analyzes business requirements, designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign computer solutions. Develops original and/or complex code or provides coding guidance to less experienced staff. Leads and/or performs modeling, simulations and analysis efforts. Verifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs. Participates in overall systems testing. Leads the migration of applications to production.
Develops new documentation, participates in the development of department technical procedures and designs user guides. As an escalation point for application support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application or system problems. Leads projects, including assignment of tasks, and provides direction and guidance to less experienced staff. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees updating and testing of the business continuation plan. Administration of the Windows, Active Directory, DataSynapse, Coherence, Citrix, and VMware environments including validating application health and providing day-to-day direction to the WFS Server Engineering team is a key area of responsibility
5+ years application development and implementation experience.
5+ years application development and implementation experience
2+ years of experience in supporting Securities Investment Group trading environment and knowledge of Equity business unit functions and applications
Required Scripting Skills Perl, Python, Shell, Windows.
3+ years of experience in one of the following OS administration (windows, Linux) High Performance Computing (Grid or Cache in a 24x7 support environment.
Administration, deployment, and monitoring tool development to maintain the production, test, and development environments.
Work with application and infrastructure teams to design, implement, test and deploy enhancements to the cache.
Understanding in application development and support work experience partnering with development in following areas: Troubleshooting skills.
Persistence in getting to the bottom of issues.
Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency for highly time sensitive deliverables in a dynamic trading environment driven by financial markets.
Analyze and identify performance issues and bottlenecks, serve as escalation point for problem resolution, and drive recovery through root cause investigation.
Preferred Skills Java language skills.
Extensive and diverse technical background including knowledge of application architecture and implementation of highly available recovery models, including setup, configuration, and monitoring of server infrastructure, networking, and database technologies.
Experience with high-availability, Disaster-Recovery, and server virtualization models using technologies such as Microsoft Clustering Services, and VMWare,
Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced application support analysts.
Excellent organization and communication skills to manage multiple initiatives and end user requests with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team to prioritize and complete tasks.
Designs, creates, and maintains procedures and documentation on all application infrastructure solutions.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong sense of urgency for highly time sensitive deliverables in a trading environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities driven by financial markets.
