General Position Summary

:

Provides and supervises support in the provision of treatment for occupational therapy services. Lead the process in development, implementation and coordination of occupational therapy services. Occupational Therapists regularly collaborate with other disciplines and services to ensure team understanding of evaluation findings, therefore promoting positive delivery of services at all levels.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

:

Participates in activities in the Department.

a. Assists in scheduling patients for treatment and evaluations.

b. Participates in the preparation of reports and records of department personnel

c. Assists in maintaining inventory of materials and supplies for the Department.

Evaluations

Performs a complete evaluation of all assigned patients.

Completes reports to the referring physician of all assigned patients.

Treatment

Practices Occupational Therapy consistent with the American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department/facility.

Confers with the person(s) most closely associated and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modification and/or progress.

Treats patients of all ages (infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, races, creeds, genders, and disabilities) without bias or prejudice.

Education

Educates patient, family, and other care giving personnel to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.

Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with many facets of the patient's community including: educational personnel, community agencies, patients, families, and the like, to increase understanding of occupational performance and expected outcomes.

Records and Reports

Responsible for the preparation and submitting of department/facility reports, ensuring confidentiality of all records, including evaluation reports, discharge summaries, progress reports of referring physicians and agencies, current progress notes on all patients, special reports requested by the supervising therapist of the manager.

Qualifications

Specific Job Skills

:

Must have good physical stamina; fairly strong and energetic and able to tolerate much walking, standing, writing, stooping, carrying, talking, seeing, bending, and handling; have color vision, speed and a healthy back; able to be on feet most of the day. Works inside normal temperature conditions with adequate light, ina a well ventilated, clean area. Some areas are limited in space, usually will work around others; must expect some moderate noise.

Ability to follow written and oral instructions, must have excellent written and verbal communication, must have the ability and desire to learn job functions outlined in the job description, must work as part of a team in order to achieve a common goal and must maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Knowledge of human development throughout the life span

Knowledge and use of Occupational Therapy Theories, models of practice, principles and evidence based practice to guide intervention decisions.

Ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans based on evaluation information.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct continuing education for PPRH staff involved with executing OT plan.

Ability to use professional literature, evidence based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisions.

Education and/or Experience

:

Must be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy school in the United States

Must have current Occupational Therapist license issued by the state of Colorado.

Must have current CPR certification
