The PACU/ASU/5BRR nurse duties include, but are not limited to: utilizing critical thinking skills and the nursing process to provide preoperative and perianesthesia phase I / phase II care for patients from various surgical specialties and procedure areas including the Operating Room, Gastroenterology Lab, Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Lab; providing pre-op and post-op education to patients and families; providing short term to extended (1 to 24 hours) care to critical care and/or med-surg patients; and participating as a member of the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) code blue team. Nurses rotate between all recovery areas and the various 8 hour tours of duty. The total number of beds in all 3 areas is fifty-five (55). The hours of operation are 5:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with on call utilized to cover after hours.
Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.
Citizen of the United States.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia . In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Current certification in BLS
Current certification in ACLS
Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

One (1) year of critical care and/or Phase I PACU professional nursing experience is preferred.
